Hydrogen leak detection device XRS 9012

Facts about the tracer gas

When comparing the physical properties of gases used for leak detection, hydrogen clearly stands out as the most effective tracer gas. For this reason, the XRS system uses hydrogen as its tracer gas. It is not only the lightest of all tracer gases, but also one of the most cost-efficient and, when used correctly, completely safe.

In the XRS system, hydrogen is used in a mixture of 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen. This environmentally friendly gas mixture is non-flammable, non-toxic and non-corrosive. Both hydrogen and nitrogen occur naturally in the environment and in all biological systems. For comparison, the natural hydrogen content of ambient air is approximately 0.5 ppm.

Thanks to these properties, hydrogen tracer gas is ideally suited for fast, reliable and highly sensitive leak detection, even in complex or inaccessible systems.

Typical application examples

  • Detection of pipe and line breaks

  • Location of leaks in telecommunication and power cables

  • Flat roof leak detection

  • Testing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Inspection of containers, valves, boilers and heat exchangers

  • Leak detection in structures and boats

  • And many more applications

Maximum sensitivity. Total control. Perfect leak localisation

The XRS 9012 sets new standards in tracer gas leak detection with its individually adjustable sensitivity and exceptionally fast response time. At the touch of a button, the sensitivity can be optimally adapted to any task: large areas can first be scanned quickly at maximum sensitivity, and once a signal is detected, the sensitivity can be reduced to filter out interference and precisely pinpoint the leak. Even large leaks do not cause saturation, while the quick recovery and automatic zero adjustment ensure clear, stable signals at all times. The integrated MAX function allows direct comparison of gas concentrations at different measuring points. Designed for practical use, the XRS 9012 features an ergonomic housing with carrying strap for ambidextrous operation, a maintenance-free battery with fast charging (also in the vehicle), and a highly reliable system without a vacuum pump. With its integrated sensor in the ground probe, zero cross-sensitivity, fault indication and min/max value memory, the XRS 9012 offers an unbeatable combination of performance, reliability and cost-efficiency – making it one of the best solutions for non-destructive leak localisation.
